eva
Hi!Do you state a "best before" date on your products? I am making preparations to bring my soaps etc. on market and according to regulations need to put this info on my products. (I live in Europe)I have no idea what should the expiery date be (or best before date) - a year? 6 months? I am interested in cp soap, lipbalms and bathmelts.Hope someone can help.:undecided Best,Eva
RobinInOR
Hmmm, tough one. All those can be such long lasting items. Since handmade kind of equals "fresh" in most peoples minds, at least here, I'd probably put a year on the soap and 6 months on the others. They'll last way longer, but eventually they might get grainy or the scent fade.
Crafty1_AJ
Depends on the shortest shelf-life of your ingredients. If you're using all saturated fats, for example, your shelf life will be longer. If you're using items that are notorious for going rancid quickly, it would be shorter.I do try to pay attention to that. So no hemp, grapeseed, etc. for me in leave-on products. I've had batches of bath bombs & lip balms go rancid surprisingly quickly when using those oils. LOL
eva
Thanks! You were a lot of help, I was kind of lost here... Robin, I was also thinking a year for cp soap and maybe 6 months for others, so I guess I will go that way. I don't use any of the most unstable oils, so I hope they won't go crazy...Thanks again!Eva
Crafty1_AJ
Adding some vitamin E oil to your leave-on products helps protect your oils from oxidization (going rancid) so quickly too.
