mysticglow
I want to try the soap mold that my DH just made for me. I know there is a formula to figure out how much it will hold but can't remember. The mold is 3.5" x 2.75" x 15". I think it was L x W x H then multiply by another number but for the life of me I can't remember. Can anyone help me out here?? :rolleyes2
wildangel112
I believe it's L x W x H x .4 :smiley2:
mysticglow
I believe it's L x W x H x .4 :smiley2:So, 3.5 x 2.75 x 15 x .4 = 57.75 so, approx. 3.5lbs.(56oz.)Cool! Thanks, Judy
mysticglow
One more question. The figure that I have 56oz. is that oils only or oils and water total 56oz.? :undecided TIA, Judy
sudsnwicks
The figure is for oils only.
Maltesima
My soap mentor told me this:length x depth x width x .4 gives you the total volume (liquid, lye and oils)HTH:cheesy2:
mysticglow
Got it. Thanks. Oils & water....I should have know this. My mind just went blank. :undecided
SatinDucky
I was under the impression it was for the total recipe also. Howevr I just noticed The Mods stated (in the Soaping Help section) it was an estimate for oils only
Scent Cellar
It is for oils only...alot of the water will cure out of your soap.
SatinDucky
It is for oils only...alot of the water will cure out of your soap.I understand that, however, for mold size you do have to be able to fit the water and lye into is as well. I guess it's because they don't account for much, weight wise. Unless you make your batch to where it just barely fits in the mold :undecided
mysticglow
I used the total 56oz. as oils + water and it filled my mold to the top.If I had used only oils at 56oz. then added the lye & water it would have been way too much. sudsnwicks
Sorry if my earlier answer was misleading. For some reason the formula works for me counting in only the oils. Glad you took the conservative approach though - it would have been a nuisance to look for another mold at the last minute to hold the leftover.
