friendlyMOM
Is there any reason not to use the tins for body butter? I wanted to try some and all I have to put it in is the 4oz tins, I thought I read somewhere that they may rust, but not sure if I am right, thanks for everyones help

Carol M
I only used tins for body butter one time, and had a bad experience. This was just pure whipped shea and oils with no water, but I still got a rusty looking ring around the edges after a month or so due, I'm thinking, to the fragrance reacting to the metal. I didn't want to seal mine, so now I just stick to jars.
cindym
yep it is the fragrance, especially heavy fo's, cinnamany ones, vanilla's, I have had this experience with my candles.

friendlyMOM
so could I just use them for solid lotion bar, and just pour it into the tin, they have no scent added, just cocoa butter, shea butter, bee wax and SAO thought I read that people put them in tins but not sure if they pour them into another mold first, and thanks all. NAH, never mind, then they would only be able to use it by rubbing it with there fingers, not a great idea!Well I decieded to just try it, thought it was going to not work out, but it shrinks away enough for me to just pop it right out use it and pop it back in. MochaMama
There's a company that sells the body butter in tins - I think it's blockhead bath or something.....here is the link to the whipped shea in a tinhttp://www.blockheadbath.com/Candles/candle%20souffle%20sets.htmI wonder why they don't have issues - maybe the tin is lined??? ExtasyPunq
I have had anhydrous salve type things get that rusty ring thing too. I think it must be the EO's they contain. I plan on staying away from the tins in the future because of this potential problem. It's a shame because they are so cute looking as apposed to plastic jars!
