Tamiraem Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 I have a 70/30 soyblend from candlescience, and it seems like on first time around (burning candle) the candle will not completely melt across the top. when I have burned for 4 hours or more, the first time it does, but it seems a little wierd. It this common? Is it something customers complain about? or is it good? Thanx for any advise. Quote
Henryk Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 You posted in the fragrance section, maybe a mod will move this to the veg section and you'll get more opinions. The answer is "it depends".I personally never expect a full melt pool on the first burn - I look for it on the second. If you get it in a reasonable amount of hours (say 1" per hour if you are single wicking) on the very first burn, then you could very well have wicked too hot for the remainder of your jar. The container will heat up and you will get a full melt pool easier further down into the jar. Now, some people want people to light a candle and get a strong throw right at the beginning on the first burn, so they DO aim for a full melt pool on the first light.Unfortunately you never know how someone will burn a candle (or even trim a wick - or not) - some people burn them for just an evening, others all day. Really, that would call for different wicks for the same candle - obviously an impossibility. All you can do is aim for a compromise.Hope that helps a bit. Quote
