hem06 Posted August 30, 2005 Share Posted August 30, 2005 Hi all!After much searching, I FINALLY found a taper mold on ebay. It makes 8 tapers, very nice. I got it yesterday.Anyway, I cleaned it out, and decided to try it. I poured one candle to test the wicks I had on hand, and to see finished product, etc.I used 100% beeswax, as I always do.How the HECK do I get it OUT?!?!?!? Henryk Posted September 1, 2005 Share Posted September 1, 2005 You HAVE to get the wax hotter than it's meltpoint for the water or heat gun trick to work. If you get the metal hot just enough for that and no more you may actually be able to salvage them without them looking too bad. Good luck. The few I've done, I've used a 4x9 pillar mold and still get only about 7" long tapers... once you leave about 1" dip room and tie a weight to the bottom. lindsaycb Posted November 24, 2005 Share Posted November 24, 2005 I've done this too...Take a jelly roll pan & turn the mold upside down on top of it. Warm your oven on the lowest setting...mine is 170. The jelly roll pan will collect the wax & clean out your mold, ready for you to try gain.
