Mozzie
Hi, when you're trying out a new FO is there a general rule of thumb regarding the percentage of FO to wax. I know that the percentage can vary considerably depending on type of wax, additives, etc, etc, etc, but wondered at what level you start testing? TIAForgot to add that I make pillars (if that makes any difference).
MaryinCary
With pillars I start with the max the wax will hold unless it's a FO that has been reviewed to be real strong, then I cut down. Usually 3/4 to 1oz. pp. HTH

I use 1 oz pp (or less) if it's very strong 1.25 otherwise.e
Mozzie
Yes, I was thinking that 6% seems to the figure bandied around. Thanks, I'll start from there.
eugenia
Mozzie, lots of folks suggest 8% (1.5) as a standard. My own personal opinion is that if I need that much to get decent throw, it's not a very good FO. e
gottabt
I always start at 6%. Like others have said if it needs more than that I will not add it to my line. This will give me a good idea if I will stick with 6% or start deducting. There are some fo companies that recommend (and I follow) using only 3%.
