Landa
How is it that some logs from others look totally smooth all around but then others are all "swirly" on the top? Did that make sense to anyone? LOL
Jcandleattic
A lot of it depends on the thickness of trace when poured, or whether the person "textured" the top after pouring and letting it set up a bit. The thicker the soap, the easier to make the swirly tops you are talking about. What I do to get that affect is wait for a thick trace to pour and then after it's in the mold and I've banged out all the air bubbles, I'll take the back of a spoon to the top of the soap and kinda texture it. Carrie
When I use my log mold sometimes I use the lid and push it down tight against the soap and sometimes I don't. If I push it down I get a flat top.
Linnyeg
you can texture the tops of your soaps by pouring a a thick trace and then swirling w/ something (a whisk, chopstick etc) or if you pour at a thin trace you could probably wait until it starts to set up a bit and do the same. hth
Landa
Thanks! I must be pouring at thick trace because my first batch had the texturized top and the second batch I made last night did too. Thanks again
