Do not try this at home!!

Last night i mixed camphor blocks and menthol crystals in the microwave. Left them in a tad bit to long. OMG The vapors coming off the bowl alone made my family vacate the premises!!! Of course i was still making my concoction so i had to stay in the kitchen and keep mixing. By the time i was done i was light headed, gagging and had the worst headache of my life!!

Time to get the double boiler out for melting this stuff!!!

Thanks for the info. I was going to work with the crystals today so I will be sure not to do as you did. I have read to melt the crystals in the already heated oils. I hope you are feeling better this morning and you highly scented house is cleared out. Sue

I like to add the crystals to some lavender eo and leave them. They dissolve in the eo and are ready to use.

iM using them for a muscle rub

Just left the house to go to the store and when i came back home the menthol is still in the air!!

I am not sure what camphor blocks are and they may be completely different from the essential oil, but I feel it necesary to mention that camphor is highly toxic. Menthol is fine, but I would recommend that you double check on the camphor.
