kayearthgrown Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 using mango butter. I am new to soap making and was wondering if anyone would mind sharing their mango soap recipe. I can't use much coconut oil because it dries my skin out. Wanting something with good lather and conditioning. TIA Quote
Crafty1_AJ Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 Don't have a recipe, but for good lather without coconut, try palm kernel oil. For good conditioning, make sure your recipe is fairly high in olive. HTH Quote

Scented Posted July 16, 2006 Posted July 16, 2006 OK I'm saying it lol ... coconut doesn't dry out the skin that I've noticed. I have been reformulating recipes I try with a newer calculation of coconut and I don't feel the irritation at all. What's the lower calculation? Well if you use soapcalc9 or 18, put like hazelnut oil in place of the coconut. If you look on the calc it reduces the amount of lye to be used by like almost 6. Just remember to use the coconut instead of the hazelnut oil when making the soap. Nothing else changes. If you want to know the scoop on your soap properties, just plug the coconut back in and calculate. It's made a lot of difference in the soaps I've been making. hope you could follow that. Quote
