thecandlespastore Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 I have a TON of candle coloring chips from when I was making candles and I have searched on the web where sites are selling them as both candle and Cp soap color chips. They are made of food grade coloring and stearic acid. Has anyone ever used them? I have over 60 colors and the possibilies are endless. But I want to be on the safe side and see if anyone has experienced them. TIA! Quote
eugenia Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 As long as they say OK for soap, you are good to go. Reserve about a tablespoon of oil from your batch. Melt the chip with the oil in the micro.I used chips this way when I was starting out and they worked just fine. Quote
CareBear Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 ooooh I'd like to try it, cause my colors keep sweating out - maybe oil based ones wouldn't do this? Quote
thecandlespastore Posted July 5, 2006 Author Posted July 5, 2006 Thanks! I am going to try a few tonight. Quote
Scented Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 Now they make a dye that's both candle and soap safe? Quote
Grumpy Girl Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 I've used these before in soap. The ones I have are from Peaks and they state candle and soap safe on the package. I got a vibrant color from them that didn't fade. Quote
thecandlespastore Posted July 6, 2006 Author Posted July 6, 2006 I just tried a tiny bit of red in my Flower by kenzo soap. It made the prettiest pink, think pink ice cream. These bars will go to my sample boxes this month I am going to up it tonight to 1 whole chip because I really want a white soap with deep red swirls, like the bottle for the perfume.I have a whole bunch of solid perfumes to do tonight, better get off the net for awhile.
