Scented Posted July 2, 2006 Posted July 2, 2006 Is there a reason to add fragrance to the oils before adding lye? And if there is, what? Or is it a no no. Quote
Meridith Posted July 2, 2006 Posted July 2, 2006 Some do it when an FO is known to cause seizing. I've never done it before but supposedly it will help with those problem FOs. Quote
Scented Posted July 2, 2006 Author Posted July 2, 2006 Ahhh! OK. But I don't get how that wouldn't cause seizing when the lye is added. Quote
Carrie Posted July 2, 2006 Posted July 2, 2006 I tried it when I soaped some SNC Fresh Cut Tulips. That stuff siezes really bad. It didn't help, I think it was actually worse. I soap this FO anyway because it is such an incredible scent in soap. Quote
RobinInOR Posted July 2, 2006 Posted July 2, 2006 I add my problematic FOs/EOs before the lye. That way they're more dilute - so it takes more time for the lye to care that they're there, or for them to get cranky. My lye is so social lol... Quote

jwahlton Posted July 2, 2006 Posted July 2, 2006 I think some people do it so they don't forget the FO too Quote
Scented Posted July 2, 2006 Author Posted July 2, 2006 My lye is so social lol...ROFLMAO!! Well actually I tried it and don't know what I think about it. Like I said, 2-3 pulses on the stick blender and I was a stirring fool. Yes there were other things going on too, like a water discount, but I upped the superfatting to 7%. Anyway, I was curious. Thanks for the answers! Quote
eugenia Posted July 2, 2006 Posted July 2, 2006 Gene does this all the time. Try easing up on the SB Scented, especially if it's a fast mover. Quote
