mizbizzyb
I know there are raves about J223. As well as raves about J50 and IGI 4627. Oh yeah, 1945 and 6006.But it is a personal decision about which one works better for you.Good luck!
deanna
Talored concepts has a new container wax that just came out about 2 weeks ago. I ordered 11# of it. I like it a lot but am having a heck of a time trying to wick my 10 and 16 oz apothocary jars...smoking and sooting! I am going to invest in some low smoking zinc wicks I think. It is a one pour, no pitting, great adhesion, strong throws...just smoky! I even tried HTPs and ECOs wicks. Darn wick issues - they are going to be the death of me! linda
thanks for the imput..I am looking for something soft like the j-50..But, for (something), that won't shrink as much..this last batch I had did some serious shrinking..I alwas allow for it..But, the shrinking was about 1/8 of an inch and it even came up away from the jar..Never had it done that before..It may be the hot texas weather??...My soy customers like the soy I use..But, I notice it has such a oil feel and sometimes locks in the scent..this isn't always good..I was told I could put up to 2 ounces of scent in the soy...which almost caused my heart to stop...Never,in my years of making candles have I ever had to add two ounces...of scent..Kind regards, linda
linda
Sounds like(the wick) is carbon capping...???What size wick are you using???I'll go check them out shortly(the site)...Thank you, linda
deanna
well, i double wick my apothocaries (but I even tried one zinc 60 - SMOKE!) With the two wicks I have tried 3 different HTP sizes, some ECO (the size for 2" jars - it's all I had), and numerous zincs. The best that I have found is the 44-20. The 44-32 is working but they both smoke! I have a call into the company but they were closed when I called. I will post when I hear from them. Texas_Jems
Hi Linda,When I was unable to get J223 or J50 at my supplier I tried the IGI 1945 (now IGI 4630) and really liked it. It has similar consistencies as the J223 but the jar adhesion was much better, IMO.I also tried the IGI 6006. I liked it also, but it seemed to absorb color differently so I wasn't sure I wanted to switch. As mizbizzyb said in an ealier post, a good single pour wax is what works best for you and will vary from person to person. I always think of candle making like cooking. I can take the exact same recipe as you, stand side by side and do everything exactly the same, and our candles will still be different. Maybe not drasticly, but different just the same.Hope you find a great wax that works well for you!Hugs,Jems
etkids
Becky at Just Scent has a great one pour wax. It's called JS123
Holly
I too, like the JS-123 from Just Scent. However, it did not burn well in my fancy jars with double wicking -- a little too much soot -- not bad, but bad enough for me. However, in the right jars, it burns beautifully! I use it in my tureens. It is a pretty wax, easy to use, has a great burn rate, and has a great scent throw. It is my favorite paraffin (single pour) out of all the ones I tried (except for CB-30 Calwax paraffin/soy blend). But, that is based on my needs. It can always be different for someone else. It is worth a try and Becky is wonderful to work with. HTH :smiley2:
linda
I'll start ordering some small quanities of wax from these company's...I found less smoke from the wicks from www.wicksunlimited.com I found they don't carbon cap as bad...I noticed they don't carry that extra wax coating over the zinc core braid..Maybe that has something to do with it..thanks so much!!.Kind regards as always, linda
