kittylove Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 When I pour a red candle from a small quantity of red dye, less than 1/2 pound, the chemical smell overpeowers the FO. Do I need larger quantities or a different dye? Most of my pours are small quantities. Quote
Candle Man Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 When I pour a red candle from a small quantity of red dye, less than 1/2 pound, the chemical smell overpeowers the FO. Do I need larger quantities or a different dye? Most of my pours are small quantities.I pour a little as 1 Lb some times and don't have a problem. If you find that to be the case all the time you could use the Reddig-Glo Diamond Candle Color ChipsTM here is one place you can get them http://www.pourette.com/dept.asp?d_id=6951&l1=6950&l2=6951 Quote

Candle Man Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 Which color method is better, chips or liquide? To me liquid is easier if you want a more consistant color from batch to batch, but the chips are not hard to use. I find you can't always use a whole chip for small batches. If you do decide to sample or use the chips don't get the pigment colors they will clog the wick. Pigment colors are for overdipping of color. Quote
kittylove Posted May 7, 2006 Author Posted May 7, 2006 Thank you for the pigment info, I will try the chips. Quote
