friendlyMOM Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 Not sure I am posting this in right area or not, so sry if wrong spot. I have a friend and her house caught fire last month, she is wondering if she can wash her votive molds as they have soot on them and if so can she just put them in the sink and use dish liquid? thanks too all who respond Quote
Scented Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 Well you can try it, but you don't want to use any scrubbies to scratch the interior of the molds. I ended up tossing about five of them when ... ummm... they got colored by flame. I just didn't spend the time to see what would clean them. Quote
Hope Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 ...just put them in the sink and use dish liquid?Assuming you would use water with the dish liquid, no. Water may encourage oxidation, causing rust. Might suggest something anhydrous (w/o water) to clean them. Maybe mold cleaner? Quote
SheilaW Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 WD40 works great. It's also good for the metal molds to remove and prevent rust. Quote
Shisha Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 or else sweet orange essential oil will cut through that junk like nobody's business! Quote
