kountry kandles Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 Anyone here gotten any of the new lot that is out? The old lot was very similar to 223 to me, very soft and easy to work with. The new one is alot whiter in color and much harder. Just wondering if anyone is having any problems with the new lot, or if the hardness is the only change. I just do not want my scent throw to be affected as I have a great one in this wax.ThanksKimKountry at Heart Quote
kountry kandles Posted May 4, 2006 Author Posted May 4, 2006 i thought maybe someone here could help me but I guess not. I appreciate you all looking at this though. Thanks Quote
sudsnwicks Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 I just got some (for the first time) to try and from what you've described, it must be the new lot. I had not tried the old version before. I wasn't even aware it had been changed. Quote
7Angela7 Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 You should wait a bit longer, a half hour isn't long enough to say that people aren't able to help you. The 50 something that's looked at the post might not use this wax. Just hold on a bit . Quote
tonyalkay Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 Wish I could help but I don't use that wax.Angela, she posted it yesterday. I thought the same thing too at first but then I looked at it again. Quote
celicagtca Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 I have used both the 4630 and the 4627 (mucky). I think the 4627 has just a touch more of a hot throw than the 4630, but they are both similar in their characteristics. The 4630 is easier to work with than the 4627. Quote
7Angela7 Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 Angela, she posted it yesterday. I thought the same thing too at first but then I looked at it again.Ahhhh, gotcha.Too bad I'm not using 4630 anymore. I'd probably like the new one better, if it had the same throw of course. Quote
Trish Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 I read this thread, but the last pallet I bought was last year so I would assume it's not part of the "lot" you're talking about. I didn't reply, because I had nothing to offer by way of help... guess you'll have to pour a couple of your top scents and compare... Quote
topofmurrayhill Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 i thought maybe someone here could help me but I guess not. I appreciate you all looking at this though.ThanksMaybe I'm misreading it, but that has kind of a petulant ring to it.Since the subject hasn't come up before, you may be among the first to notice this. I guess you probably won't throw the wax out because it looks different, so why not just pour a candle and report back. They say it's better to give than to receive. Quote
Jane42 Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 I did notice our new shipment was whiter, but we have had no luck in wicking this wax (the old or "new"), so I can't really tell you if there is a difference......but we are still working on it. Let me know how you make out... Quote
htaylorrn Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 I got a case like you are describing from Lonestar. It gave me horrible wet spots, like almost around the whole jar! I called them, and they confirmed there was a mess up. They issued a UPS pick up for the case and sent me another case. The replacement case was creamy, not white, and soft. You should contact your supplier. Quote
Freezin Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 My last case of this wax was way different than what I usually get. In my case, the wax was an off yellow which is the first thing I noticed. That is not the color of what it usually is. Then I would sometimes get a sink hole (not by the wick) but off to the side. It would be strange because I could pour 3 or 4 candles at the same time, same batch, same exact conditions and all would be fine, but one. I also noticed that the hot throw was not as good. I did contact the supplier, they said that they hadn't heard anything being wrong with it (I am not gripping about supplier, love this supplier). The wet spots and the look of the wax after it had set for awhile was also different. I was pretty much stuck with it because of where I live and shipping is ridiculous. The new case I received just yesterday seems to be the right color again. Over the years on the board we have heard lots of stories of inconsistancy with waxes. I am not sure what we can do about it, but it does stink (no pun intended). Heather did Lonestar elaborate about what the mess up was? I see they have been out of it for quite awhile. I would really like to know because it made me so sick to use this wax knowing that it was the quality I wanted or was used to. Quote

But, like I said before, we have had a tough time getting this wicked so it doesn't smoke, so I wasn't too concerned. Just adds to the confusion... Quote
kountry kandles Posted May 6, 2006 Author Posted May 6, 2006 I have poured some of the new wax, I had thought that maybe I got the wrong thing in my case. I was really confused, and did not mean what I typed in any wrong way. I had heard that most of you here were the most knowledgeable in waxes, and that is why I asked. I am sorry if anyone took offense it was not meant that way, was just frustrated. Now, about the new lot of 4630, it is much harder, when candle has cooled. I am test burning some now, scent throw seems to be the same, but will know more in a few hours. Burn seems to be the same as well.Again, I am sorry if I made anyone mad. Thanks for all your responses. Quote
htaylorrn Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 Lonestar didn't elaborate...just said there was a mess up and shipped out a new box ASAP. I haven't had anything but positive encounters with their customer service. Quote
