Shea butter Question

what do you prefer... natural or refined... I am getting a replacement for some natural that I recieved that had a bug in it (eww gross, but the company is great about it) and I have the option of trying natural again or refined... which should I pick?

It's pure personal preference. I use both. The smell of the natural does not bother me at all.

I agree with e, it's really a choice you need to make. If you've only tried one, maybe you can now try the other and then you can decide which you prefer. I for one, just can't get past the smell of the unrefined shea.

I have some golden shea coming from a co-op that is unrefined, but doesn't have the smell, so I can't wait to test it.

I used to only use the refined, but have learned how to work with the scent. Now I won't use anything but!

My understanding is that Refined Shea has many of the natural healing properties removed along with the scent. The UNrefined is the better of the two.

I just figure that after they remove all the good stuff to refine it, why use it except for label appeal. Unrefined from Agbanga Karite.

I do have to admit that I did buy some refined to play with.

thanks ladies... Going to stick to the unrefined then... i have tried the refined before.. but i went back to natual and I didnt really even think about why... your info and thoughts helped me back up my choice

I use both. Refined in my lotion bars; unrefined in my CP soaps. For whipped shea, it depends on what I'm going for. If I'm scenting with eo's, I use unrefined. It's less greasy.
