Strong Soy Throwers - List

Recommended Posts

I want to see what others have found to be Strong Throwers in 100% Soy container candles.

I have tested lots and lots of different FO's and this is my list of "Keepers" so far:

Candle Cacoon = Sultry Angel

KY Candle = Blackberry Sage, Christmas Past, Vineyard

Bluegrass = Smell Stopper, Lavender/Apple/Oak, Blackberry Sage, Spiked EggNog

WSP = Clean Laundry, Bergomot Mandrin

SoS = Honey Dew Melon

Just Scent = Mojito Cocktail

I pour most at 6% as a start point and adjust as needed - all of the above are Fantastic at the 6%.

I have been using the Peak Cotton Wicks and EL 100% Soy (not millenium but the regular).

Pour cloudy/slushy

Wait mininum 24 hours for burn

I have some samples from all of these companies that I have either not poured yet or have not gotten the Throw I want for a Strong Throw.

Please add your list - I need to add more fragrances to my line so want to see what you have found.

Thanks:)

Good thread. Here are some of mine: (I use Calsoy CB-3 with RRD's and Hemps) (most used at 8% and some at 9% and 6% - 7% -- some of the 8 and 9's could most likely be lowered one percent. I have a hard nose to please, but am finding that some of my candles are stronger to others than to me)

Peaks

Plumeria -- very strong

Green Tea -- strong

Blackberry Tea - strong

Wild Raspberry - med strong

Sugar Plum Berries - med strong

Creme Brulee - strong

Fresh Linen - med strong

Baby Powder - med strong

White Tea and Ginger (I am still testing this one) -- I think med strong

Spiced Vanilla (med + throw to me)

Eucalyptus & Spearmint - med strong

Blueberry Verbena - strong

Cranberry Fig - strong

Warm Vanilla Sugar - med strong

Christmas Past - strong

Just Scent

Lavender Vanilla - strong

Vanilla of Pearl - med. strong

Mojito Cocktail - strong

Bluegrass

Lavender in Bloom - strong

WYW

Perfect Pumpkin (smells very close to WSP's Perfect Pumpkin -- I use WSP) - strong

Fresh Linen (smells completely different than Peak's Fresh Linen) - WAY STRONG - keep the amount lower

Alabaster

Mulled Cider - strong

Wholesale Supplies Plus

Almond and Honey - med. strong to strong (to some it may be real strong)

Perfect Pumpkin - strong

I know I have not remembered them all. Also, there are some above that I have not completely decided on. The throw is great with all the above, but there are some that I may not keep/add to my list. I have a lot more that I am still testing that throw good but just not sure on and have some that I am not sure on the throw because of candlenose. I just poured 24 testers in the last two days -- looking for some good fresh spring and summer scents. (from Candle Cocoon, Nature's Garden, KY, A Scent Shop, Bittercreek North and South, and Fragrance Oil Haven and some others from some places above). I will post the good ones when I test them.

I will add more if I remember them. :)

Also to note not all Soy wax is created equal. These scents listed may have worked in the kind or brand of Soy that person is using. They may or may not work in a brand of Soy you use.

This is so true and is such a bummer at times. :undecided

True but if it works in one soy it has a greater chance of working in another soy.

I know this to be true, but why? If it is all 100% soy I can't see why it would change. I can see if other oils are added, that might change the throw. But it seems soy should be soy. Any answers? Beth

Soy is organic and each harvest would be different. Different brands are either different from the area grown or the way it is processed. Even if you use only one brand all the time, when you re-order, it can be different because it is a natural grown product. So you always need to test at random when you get in new shipments of wax.

edited for spelling
