Tara
I just made another batch of cp soap and it has "ash" on the top. After searching the board, I found out it was because I was peeking at it but I couldn't help my self. I will have to learn to control myself on the next batch. LOL. Now the only thing I didn't read is, is it necessary to remove the ash before I use it ( I know it has to cure) or can I just leave it there? Also how long before you should notice it starting to harden. My first batch was yesterday so it's been a little over 24 hours and it's still soft but not as soft as this morning. Does that sound normal?
Purple Lilac
It is not necessary to take the ash off, after a couple of uses it will wash away. After a few days of your cut soap exposed to the air you will feel it harden up. Sounds normal
eugenia
The ash is cosmetic. You can leave it on or trim; it's a matter of preference. Your soap should get harder every day and be pretty firm in two weeks. I know, it seems like such a long time but wait 'til you see how nice they are after six weeks (or six months). They just get better with age. :smiley2:
