sharyl55
What is that old saying? "If at first you do not succeed, try, try again." Finally got a full size crushed can mottle. Of course using a 12 oz coke can makes a pretty small pillar. This pic was taken about 1 1/2 hrs into the 1st burn. Wick isn't centered the best but hey, it's burning. Now to melt some new wax and try the 3" pillar again.
nayarx8
Oh Sharyl, its so cute! Is it scented?
sharyl55
I'm still playing with the 1st lb of 4045. Just keep melting it down and pouring it again. Scented Ocean Breeze. I was just tickled I was able to fill the coke can up and not have it all leak out around the wick pin.

topofmurrayhill
Neat. Think I'm gonna get me one of those big Boddington's cans and try that (well, actually they come in fours but chandlery is thirsty work). The shapes are interesting and each one is unique. butterfly
Maybe I am weird but I don't like "the crushed can look". I think it takes away from "our" art.
Aspencreek
So do you just pour the wax in and then cut the can off when it is setup??? I was showing my husband this and now he wants one. Thanks.

sharyl55
I followed the instructions JoJo posted here with her pictures about a month ago. I put on my gardening gloves and just peeled the can off. I had put a couple of small cuts around the top to have a starting place. Have fun. Tell you DH he'll have to get some tall beer cans so you can make him a candle.
