wax_moose
I would like to know how you make the Multi Colored candles (colors inside of colors). Do you just pour the melted wax over the cooled wax in a mold, or does it melt the cooled wax and blend the colors?
Fern
Hey Newbie...just so you don't think anyone's ignoring your question...don't have clue how they do those. I don't think I've seen anyone post a picture of one of those in the gallery either. Maybe someone will have an answer for you soon.
Vicky_CO
Well just to try to help let see if we can clear up what you are really after.Colored chunks in a candle?A candle that has one color inside but another color out side? Different colored layers? If you can explain better what you are after most likely some one here has made them or can help you work out how to make them. mystical_angel1219
Hello there and welcome to the board. :smiley2: I believe its called overdipping. Definitely not something one would want to try for their first adventure in candlemaking. Perhaps something to try once you get a few candles under your belt.<-------There are alot of instruction here (Techinques & Ideas) that would be helpful to you.Bruce or Donita have used this method before, it might be beneficial to do a search and see what comes up. wax_moose
Wow, thanks, I do need to get a few under my belt, I just recently found you could make your own out of simple things like parafin wax, which is readily available at my local grocery store, so I thought, being artistic, I'd give it a try. I would love to work my way up to candles like the one I asked about. Here is a link to a candle like I mean...http://www.candlewic.com/store/Product.aspx?q=cParaffins,p522

I would go to the gallery first and see his creations. I am almost certain he is a second generation candlemaker. I do not think he will pass on his secrets but he might guide u in the right direction.
Vicky_CO
Oh Yea those are cool Bruce is our main expert on those he makes some really wondeful ones. But he is getting some competion from a few other carvers he lately. Those are a base candle over dipped in colored wax then carved. Now I just made those sound simple when in truth they take a lot of practice to get right.
candlesprite7
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1579904629/sr=8-10/qid=1140191273/ref=sr_1_10/002-0260727-3932833?%5Fencoding=UTF8You will want this book also, but I think you should start with just getting used to all the terminology and just making a few regular candles. Good Luck! You will have a blast!

OFCILynn
Hi Wax Moose, I am just learning how to make the cut-n-carve candles which is what you want to make are called! I highly suggest that you get the book that was suggested : http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/157...coding=UTF8You as it will really help you but DO start making other candles first so you can learn how the different waxes respond to different variables, such as additives, colors and fragrances and such. I will tell you from being a newbie on the cut-n-carves, that depending on the sizes that you want to make, it can be pretty expensive to start out!! Good Luck!God Bless,OFCILynn

Good Luck!God Bless,OFCILynnI agree, I'm a newbie too. I jumped right in (like I do in everything) to the cut-n-carved candles. It is expensive to start out, and it takes alot of practice and patience! I'm now trying to work my way back to making pillers and container candles. Having never made a candle before last year, I, like alot of people (who have never made a candle) thought it's simple "just melt wax, pour in mold or container, throw in a wick, and you have a candle. NOT!!! That's why I started with the cut-n-carve, I loved the way they look, thought that's different! It's not just wax and a wick!Keep reading and researching....you will find alot of useful information here.
