Georgia
You can call it anything you want, but ethically, no, it is not a soy candle. I wouldn't want to mislead my customers by omission any more than I would want to tell them that parafin candles cause cancer.I believe soy is around to stay. Different waxes have different properties and make different candles. And people like variety and whatever the latest trend is. I've never used ezsoy, but I have used straight soy. It's a little more picky, but still makes a great looking and smelling candle.
topofmurrayhill
As you've discovered, soy is popular because it sounds good, not because it is good. Just to be realistic. I find it interesting and kinda fun to work with, but soy or 100% veggie would be in the basement if we only cared about using the best container wax.If every candle maker made the best possible product, soy would be much more marginalized because it would be obvious the candles aren't as good. But since many paraffin candle manufacturers are content to produce a mediocre product, the confusion lives on.So that's your dilemma. Sounds good versus works good. Consumers don't expect soy candles to have petroleum product in them, that doesn't sound good, so you have to be honest. But I think you could still get some marketing mileage out of saying soy/paraffin blend ("sounds better").
Terrie
You can call it a "Soy Blend". Nothing misleading or fraudulant about that IMO.

The_Dallas_Texas_Dean
if we only cared about using the best container wax.top, in your opinion, what IS the best container wax available out of the ones you have tried? (Preblended)I realize that you create your own blends with your additives...but if you were to use a preblended container wax, which one would it be? topofmurrayhill
top, in your opinion, what IS the best container wax available out of the ones you have tried? (Preblended)I haven't done enough testing to have an opinion on that.A while back I was using Harmony Blend and thought it was pretty good if wicked properly. The high microcrystalline content can cause problems because it's hard to burn completely, but Harmony has the lowest MP of the popular blends so it shouldn't be necessary to use a torch. HTP or CD is a good bet with that one. Then I sold it off and haven't gotten back around to one-pours until recently. Now I'm designing a proprietary blend, but I have samples of Comfort, Harmony, J-223, J-50 and J-300 rolling in to compare one-pour properties. Not sure how far I'll get testing them in other respects.

Shala
I'm so glad that you asked this question. I asked a couple of days ago on the veggie board but you worded your question better than I did mine. lol Thanks for all the answers that everyone gave!
