Hi from a new "oldie"

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! My name is Jess, I have been making cold process soaps & soy candles since 1999 (cp soaps) and 2001 (soy containers). I sold my products up until 2004; then got divorced with three small children ages 2,2,3 at the time. In 2004 I  finished college and became a dental hygienist and worked full time in the dental field up until 2020. I made random batches of cp soaps and soy candles every year, and occasionally would do a market or event when time allowed. Fast forward to today... My boys are all grown up & in college/ out of the house now 😢and am no longer able to work due to a medical condition, so here I am! :) My love & passion for creating beautiful botanical based soaps & candles never died; my busy, crazy simply life got in the way. I feel as if I've been in a 22 year coma...so many new waxes, butters, fragrances, and ingredients just waiting to be discovered and purchased, lol!! I'm here to brush up on my skills and learn about everything I've missed out on over the past 20 years. And oh my stars....So many new fragrance oil businesses and suppliers...this is gonna be FUN! I have joined a few FB groups, but I'm here for the nostalgia of being part of a soap/candle forum; just like the good ol days of my past. (Anyone else here remember "The Dish" soap making forum? I was on there for years. Loved it so much! :) Also just realized when I was making & selling, we didn't have FB, instagram, tiktok, youtube etc. SO many changes & new ingredients to work with, i just honestly cant believe ir! Ive got lots of learning,  practice & testing in my future, but I can't wait to start making & selling again...the art of soap and candlemaking truly has my heart! Thank you for reading, and hope you all have a great day!

Welcome Back! And welcome to your old/new addiction LOL!

I’m sure a lot of new companies have sprung up since you were doing this. I know there have been a lot in the past 12 years since I’ve started and a lot that have closed.
