tedswaxfactory2022
I have been testing several new candles and I was wondering if anyone knows what the maximum heat of a votive should be? I know the maximum for container candles is 140 degrees, but the votives seem to run much hotter.
TallTayl
Hi and welcome! I’ve never seen any specs specifically for votives from ASTM. Their published limit for containers is 170*F (I’ve seen references to 175*F and will search for the most recent revision to be certain.) home goods has a published list of specs for candles that is more stringent than most of us have used. 125*F limit for metal and 140*F limit for glass. Curious now what ASTM revision most retailers use! http://www.nordstromsupplier.com/NPG/PDFs/Product Integrity/Product Testing and Requirements/At Home/2012/Home Hard Goods Performance Specifications.pdf
