I wish I used zinc and understood them well enough to recommend. @bfrobertsmay know… the salsa jars have a very subtle, but important shoulder and neck that makes convection an issue for double wicking soy (as in the OP question). The harder paraffins typically need a smaller wick than the softer paraffins like 4630, 4627, etc. I'd say you are right on track starting your testing with 51z. IIRC, with 4630 I typically had to use 60z or sometimes even 62z depending on the FO. I wish I knew. I think it's partly that, but I'm not sure that's the only factor. Envious that you don’t have to play the wick game. 😂 ihave some mottling wax here somewhere. It came unlabeled, so it’s anyone’s guess which block it is. I live in southeast Texas so I really need a harder wax if I'm ever going to do shows that are outside. It can be hot here in December! We've been having 80 degree weather here for the last several days. Not that 80 degrees would be too hot but in the spring and summer it's brutal! I'm hoping it'll cool down soon. Overall, yes, it has a comparable throw IME. It does benefit from curing.
