urboholic
When making scented candles, can i use my LX 16 on spool or does the wick need to be pre-waxed to preform properly in a scented candle :)?
TallTayl
You can use unprimed just know that the priming help minimize cavities. When you are using unprimed the wick will soak up some of your wax so you may need to do a second pour and poke for cavities. The wax coating also helps keep the flat wicks and uncored Wick from sagging slumping and flopping over While the candles burn. If using a soft wax like coconut or IGI 4627 the Wick can tilt over in the very soft melt pool creating a potentially dangerous situation. I use unprimed square braid in beeswax successfully. The beeswax is strong enough to keep everything centered. Same with container palm and pillar palm as it’s a very sturdy wax
birdcharm
I dip the raw wick it into my wax and lay it out on some waxed paper (for instance) to let it harden, it's easier to work with if it's rigid, besides the other benefits to having it primed.
