jancita
Hi all, I have just made my first beeswax taper 7/8, 10 inches. I used pure beeswax and a 1/0 square braided wick. It burns beautifully but the wick is not self trimming as it burns. Any advice?
TallTayl
How long did you wait before burning? Bees wax hardens with time so some thing over wicked early may be perfect later on. The wax looks very light in your picture. I would go to a #2/0.
jancita
Thank you! That is probably the problem as I made it and was so excited to try it, I burned it right away. Oops. How long do you recommend waiting? It’s white beeswax from Bulk Apothecary.
TallTayl
I burn right away too sometimes 🤣 it is hard to wait. Most of the hardening is done within 2 weeks or so. But I notice enough after a few months to be aware of wicking. white beeswax can vary so much, though. White generally is easier to burn than any yellow.
