Jess Williamson
Hi everyone Please could I ask for your help. I recently started making candles using 100% soy wax and fragranced oils (I do about 9%). I’ve noticed that after setting the wax is crumbly in some parts, mostly around the wick. I pour to manufactures instructions (56 degree Celsius) and I warmed up my containers as well, but this hasn’t helped. Could it be a dodgy soy wax, should I try another brand? Any help would be appreciated 😊

NightLight
Some soy waxes have more of that look than others. It’s fairly typical of soy wax and an identifier. if you don’t like the look you need to either use a paraffin wax, a paraffin soy wax blend, or learn how to use additives to smooth out the wax. You can also use a heat gun to melt the top layer to make it smooth but after you light the candle and blow it out it will have the crumbly look.
