Vickyjane
Hi everyone, I’m new to candle making. I’ve made a couple of soy wax candles 10% fragrance. However the wick just burns right down and drowns after a few minutes. I tried a double wick even though the jar isn’t that big and the same happened. I’m also getting no room scent off them at all please help
TallTayl
A wick that tunnels right down and drowns within minutes suggests a cavity under the surface.
Vickyjane
Thank you for the response, what could cause a cavity?

Soy is prone to uneven crystal formation as it cools. Pouring as cool as possible helps minimize cavities. Uneven cooling is a very common reason. The outside and top of the candle cooling more rapidly than the inside is another main cause. The inside shrinks as it cools, and needs air from somewhere to fill the gaps, so it sucks air from the outside down the wick as it is the path of least resistance.
