MCee
Hi everyone - hoping to get some useful feedback on here. I have been struggling quite a bit with the hot throw of using 100% pure soy wax for container candles. I have tried different wicks but still have yet to get a decent hot throw that is worth selling with a single wick. I decided to try a coconut/soy wax blend with a double wick in a tin container. The hot throw seems to be very good on the day after I poured it. My question is in regards to the pitting effect that is present after the burn. I have tried a different coco/soy blend prior to this and the tops were not pitted after the burn, they were perfecting smooth (which is the look I'm trying to achieve). My Canadian supplier stopped carrying that wax so I had to try a different brand. Has anyone ever seen pitting on the surface of the candle after it has been burned with coconut/soy wax blends? TallTayl
I have seen pitting, usually when the blend is primarily soy, and when over wicked. Tins are tough.
NightLight
Add some paraffin and you won’t get pitting. You can get a smooth surface with all natural but you may also have a much harder candle due to additives. There are some soy blend waxes you could add coconut too but they probs have palm in them.
