mindy5140 21
Getting back into making candles again.. Finally cleaning up my hoard of FO's. I have Fragrance oils from 15 years ago, that Im not going to use they didnt smell good then and definitely dont now.. Although I have come across full bottles of Berts, MW, KY, BW FO's that still smell great.. So could I just use them up, while finding dupes of them?? TallTayl 7,795
If they still smell good I would use them. The performance will probably far exceed what you can get now. If they’re over five years old there’s a good chance they contain phthalates. I don’t mind them as they help a candle really throw well. Some people might object due to marketing.
Shari 454
I agree with the above. I have FO's that are 7-8 years old and still smell and work great. As long as they smell good you should be fine. Might want to try a small batch just to test.
birdcharm 670
You might be able to blend some of those old ones to make something new with them ...? If you decide to dispose of the ones you don't like, just make sure you take them to the proper facility for that, as they're chemicals. I bet you could work with some of those, I've made some "bad" ones smell pretty good with a little scent work.
mindy5140 21
Right!! That's what I was thinking too but just wanted to make sure. I found a Mr. Missys FO like how long ago was that?? lol..
Pam W 569
Mindy, it's time to start blending. If you have an "old" FO that you are not sure about, blend it with another FO that you like and sounds like it would be complimentary. If not, make melts with those old FOs

dncullen 1
I came across a box that I had packed away form about 10 years ago. Some fragrance oils ate right through the bottle and leaked. Not all. But I poured them and they were great. The ones in glass bottles were better off.
