Sweet Almond Oil for Lip Balm

Recommended Posts

Hello Fellow Crafters....Could you Please help me out. I am going back and forth with my decisions on using Sweet Almond Oil in my lip balm due to the possible allergic reactions one could have. ?  I do understand the product must be labeled accordingly.  Also, for those that do not use SWO - what would be the other best choices of carrier oils to use instead of the SWO?  I currently will test with Sunflower oil. I did make a batch with Soybean oil, but to me  - it has a Greasy Feel.  Any help will be greatly appreciated! TIA.

I would use long shelf life oils. Almond, soy, sunflower all go off pretty quickly (within 6 months of opening the bottle)

coconut oil is one with longer life, along with palm, palm kernel, castor, jojoba

Shelf Life of Vegetable Oils

Below is a list that displays the typical shelf lives for vegetable oils when stored properly. The most stable vegetable oils include jojoba (actually a liquid wax), meadowfoam, fractionated coconut, watermelon seed, moringa and high oleic sunflower oils. When receiving new shipments of oils, we recommend recording the date of receipt and the shelf life on the label of each oil to help you keep track.

Mostly lip balm includes wintergreen, orange, lime, lemon, vanilla, grapefruit, and lavender oils.  These oils are recommended when you deal with your rough and chapped lips. Also, use cosmetic boxes for lip balm to protect from harmful sun rays.
