Abbeycatherine
So in my ignorance, i ordered xsmall wicks and bought small jelly jars when i first decided to take this on as a hobby. Ultimately, i want large glass jars and wood wicks, but in the interest of using what i have an experimenting with FO, i decided to do a burn test with the xsmall wicks in the wax i have to figure how to make them usable in the jelly jars. I tried a couple combos, single, side by side, and overlapped. The side by side made the nicest flame, but the melt pool is a bit too big for my jelly jars, so the overlapped wicks won. Heres the melt pools after 4 hours. Once that was decided i poured 4 with a 6% fo load of 1/2 cinnamon vanilla and 1/2 strudel and spice, both from candlescience. It looks to me like they may harden frosty, wdyt? Loving this chandling world though! So fun! My sample kit of wicks from woodenwick.com is on its way! Can't wait for more experimenting! TallTayl
The glass will hold a ton more heat than the pan, so watch closely as those burn. If it gets hot, yank one out and see if a single will do the trick. Each FO will be very different. you can cut those wicks down lengthwise to create a little extra boost without creating a fireball. There’s no precise way to do it, though. Good luck. Can’t wait to see how they go.
