MilosCandles
Many times in my candle business I buy something try it, and ehhh, it is OK, makes things a little better, or not much different at all. I had hoped this contraption I made to re-melt the tops of candles would help. This things saves me soooo MUCH time, standing there holding the heat gun above the candles. This time of year, I am pouring and shipping non-stop. Pour all night and ship before I leave for my real job in the AM. Wake up put 25 candles on the re-melter do the other ones by hand turn off the re-melter, go shower, and when I come back down in the basement they are basically ready to ship. I have been just putting cans on it cause them I can put the heat gun on High to expedite the process. I have another item I am working on it should be here Friday. Can not wait! I will show you next week hopefully. This might be a whole new business in itself. My mind is always racing with ideas. LOL FYI - my candle business is just a means for me to make stuff like this. Gives me things to think about to improve efficiency and process and create stuff. If you have looked at the other things I have done (youtube) you will know what I mean.
Paintguru
I really like your heat gun rotation thing, so I'm eager to see what you are building. I already have items for the turntable in my Amazon basket. I almost wonder if a standard heat lamp would work better than a heat gun (same turntable idea though). I love DIYing this sort of stuff too.

Not sure if I put the link to the turn table I got - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B014RWD9EU/ Wood top - https://www.homedepot.com/p/1-in-x-2-ft-x-2-ft-Pine-Edge-Glued-Panel-Round-Board-682527/202017012

Is there anything Amazon doesn't have?
Paintguru
Here's the rotating platform I found that I think will work: http://a.co/d/gNhG5NM Also tagged a lab stand (http://a.co/d/4M6LUOE) to tie the heat gun to. Perhaps there is a better support for this??

NightLight
Hmm. i know you do not want to hear this but you can make perfectly smooth tops with soy wax when you get your pour temps down. Time equals money. Perfect the pouring save the time, make the money.
NightLight
I use a heat gun all the time for projects. It’s superior to a hairdryer. There are also reducing nozzles so you can be more accurate.

I don’t care about tops I DO care about cavities
