Candlebuddy
I'm testing soy in a 4oz jelly jar (2and 5/8" diameter). The only wicks I have on hand are 44-24-18z.I don't want to waste my soy or fo . . . any opinions or suggestions? Thanks!
Marilyn
That might work, altho it has been said that zinc is not so good in soy. You may have to break down and buy more wicks or a sample pack! I use a lot of cotton wicks, 51C with that size diameter gennerally. I also like the cotton wicks Peaks has.
Kaybee23
I agree, buy a sample pack of the wicks you are interested in, or the easiest for you to get and try them for yourself. Zincs are a cool burning wick and not always the best to use in soy. It will also depend on what FO and the wax you are using as well. Right now I use 3 different HTP wick sizes, depending on the FO's. And that is all for 1 jar size. As far as wasting wax and FO; when you are learning to make candles, you will do a lot of that if you are testing properly.
scottopus
For most FO's at 9%, my starting wick for a 100% soy wax in a 4oz jelly jar (2and 5/8" diameter) is a HTP 104. If needed, I'll wick up (105) or down (93) after testing the 104.
