Typically burn tests are 3-4 hours each waiting a day in between burns until the end of the candle.

Take good notes with photos as you go to record the process. Record any soot, carbon balling, if the wick stays at an acceptable length during the burns without needing intervention, if the wick curls or leans too much, the width and depth changes to the melt pool.

If each burn burn passed your test, the next one you make the exact same way and prepare powerburns, which are significantly longer burns, again until the very end of the candle.
