Forrest
I’ve been thinking about this, and even though it may be months before I pour a candle with FO again here it is. Adding FO to my wax causes a significant drop in temperature. Our house stays pretty cool during the winter and 60 degree FO can drop the wax temperature to below 180. Is that a problem? I could add the FO at a higher temp or I could warm the FO if necessary.
kandlekrazy
I warm my pot, add the fo, weigh, tare and then add the wax. The warm pot warms up the fo just enough that it doesn't drop the wax temp with cold fo. My workshop tends to be on the cool side.
TallTayl
It totally depends on the batch size. Once you get to production size batches that becomes much less of an issue. If really cold, and am making tiny test batches of a single candle size, i’ll hit the pot with the heat gun to take the chill off so the blend is totally clear while stirring.
