7kgirl Posted March 24, 2018 Posted March 24, 2018 I am very new, and I am reading a ton of tutorials and articles and watching videos. My niece gave me a container she would like me to refill, I believe it is Woodwick, or Ribbonwick. I would love to do a horizontal wick, but I can't find anything even close to that, or a horizontal wick of any kind. Is there such a thing out there for candle making, or are they patented? Thank you for any responses. Quote
Laura C Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 Hi @7kgirl, just now seeing your post. Sorry, no, I've never found any wicks like that for sell, they all appear to be patented and used by certain candle makers. I would like to buy those wicks and test them too. https://woodwick.yankeecandle.com/wbrowse/candles/_/N-ak2?view=Grid&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI45y8y__h4wIVCp6fCh26KguCEAAYASAAEgIT4fD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds https://www.courtneyscandles.com/hwf12923.html?utm_source=Froogle&utm_medium=Comparison&utm_campaign=Frooglizer&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIl63Rm_7h4wIVDZ-fCh0EWwAjEAQYAiABEgJJCfD_BwE Quote
iansmommaya Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 It seems there is a provisional patent on those wood wicks. https://patents.google.com/patent/US9816053B2/en?q=wooden&q=candle+wick&oq=wooden+candle+wick 1 Quote
pcbrook Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 Northwood Candle Supply has ribbon wicks but I am not sure if they are exactly what you are looking for. Quote
Kerven Posted August 17, 2019 Posted August 17, 2019 (edited) Candle Cocoon has something similar to the Ribbonwick. Wave Wick The wavey wick used by Ribbonwick appears to be patented. Flexible Wick (I found the mention of silk and alpaca hair as a wicking material interesting. I guess that makes them potentially non-vegan.) Edit: I just realized how old this thread is. Oops...
