I've been using ECO wicks and noticed that they seem to produce a lot of black smoke when burning. Are they producing a lot of black smoke because they are too large for the size of candle? Would anyone know which wicks produce minimal black smoke?

we will need a little more info to help troubleshoot:

what wax

fragrance and supplier

% fragrance

container size

container material

any additives?

how long did you let the candle cure?

With coconut wax and eco eight is typically too big of a WIC. I would go down to either a four or six at the most and test that again.

Coconut Wax is finicky. If the wick is too big you will get soot stacks. If the work is too small you will get soot stacks.

Also i was wondering if anyone knows what is the difference between ECO and CD wicks?

They are constructed differently and burn very differently.

Here’s a great candle wicking info source that describes them all.

Click through the different manufacturers to read up on how the different series are engineered to work with different waxes.
