Grumpy Girl Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 Can you CP in a 100% stainless steel loaf pan without lining? And if you did, how big of a bitch would it be to free it?Yeah, I'm lazy. Quote
Meridith Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 Since you can use stainless steel to make soap in, I would think you could use it for a mold too. I would try spraying the loaf pan with Pam or something first cuz I think there will be difficulties getting the soap out of the pan. Or try lining with saran wrap or a bag. Quote
jenniejr Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 I used my stainless mini loaf pan for CP and sprayed it w/ Pam the 1st time and the soap came right out. The 2nd time I used it .... I sprayed w/ Pam again and I still needed a cutting torch to get the soap out!! Not sure what the diff. was, but give it a try and see how it goes. Worst that could happen is you'll need to borrow my torch! Good luck! Quote
Sara Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 Doesn't it heat up something fierce in SS? Do you OP with that, or just put it to bed like regular CP? I know sometimes just having raw soap sitting in one of my SS pitchers it heats up so much it starts to gel while it is waiting for me to work with it. :undecided Quote
Grumpy Girl Posted January 17, 2006 Author Posted January 17, 2006 I decided against using it for CP... just couldn't get it lined right. Oh well. Quote
singleyellowrose Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 You should be able to use it. Only thing is, PAM will saponify! Your best bet if you do wanna use it without lining it is to grease it with a NON veggie oil. One that won't saponify. Quote
