I want to make pearlized foaming LS

I got my foamer bottles for testing out my LS formulation. I am wanting to make liquid soap that foams. So far the foamer bottles I am testing from SKS the nozzle sticks. Sigh... will have to look for better bottles without a sticking nozzle.

 

So next I've been thinking a lot about making a pretty pearlized LS for my foaming soap.

 

Anyone have any experience making pearlized LS?

 

I know some fats like palm and lard make opaque LS. Plus one of my soaping books mentioned something... a chemical?... that can turn a LS into a pearlized soap but now I am having trouble finding the passage.

 

I also remember someone.... WSP? who carries a pearlizer?

 

Any tips on pearlizing or good foamer bottles would be most appreciated. Thanks.

@Candybee, I get home next week (tomorrow actually YAY - but will be recouping until at least Tuesday), I know I have some. REMIND ME - by sending me an email and I will send it to you. I don't know why I bought it, I have never opened it, and I will never use it. This way at least you can test this, and if you like it, you can get more, and yes, I believe it was from WSP, but will know when I get home.

I use EGMS as a pearlizer in Syndet liquids. Will need to check specs to see if it is a reasonable ingredient for high pH soap.

 

if you know the INCI of the WSP one we can compare. WSP tends to rename common ingredients to throw people off, lol.

SO here's my standardized disclaimer: "Yeah I don't actually DO this, so I don't have "practical" experience... BUT:"  Ok, now that I've explained what orifice I'm speaking from...  If you're talking about soap I think stearic acid is a common pearlizer for LS. It's also really cheap, which makes it a WONDERFUL choice for me personally.

May give it a try but I am a little skeptical. I know palm, stearic, and lard can add opaqueness and a little pearlization but from other soapers accounts it doesn't last. I was thinking of adding a solid fat to my recipe for the opaqueness. Will see if it adds a nice pearl effect.

 

When I can get to it will post how it worked. But I do want to use the pearlizer from WSP JC. Will follow up with on that next week.

I'm back in the states!! YAY - but have dental issues, and had a root canal yesterday, need to see a specialist for another root canal and am getting a tooth extracted tomorrow. (I know, I have HORRID problems with my teeth!!) Anyway, I haven't even been in my basement since being home, but do please remind me about the pearlizer. I'd be more than happy to send it out, when/if I can remember. LOL

No problem. I haven't had the time to make a batch of LS let alone experiment with a pearlizer. I will have to table this until early next year after craft show season.

That's the one I think I have that I need to check on. If it is I'm just going to mail it to Candy because I'll never use it. Don't even remember why I got it in the first place..
