SatinDucky Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 From the looks of the slab, there's no question about it. Guess I'll get a lot of practice trying to prevent it :undecided Quote
judyvega Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 That doesn't look good. Maybe you'll be surprised :undecided Quote
sharyl55 Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 Did you call the supplier and complain? Quote
RobinInOR Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 Looks like my 1343 when I leave the excess wax from a batch of pillars in the pyrex glass - get beautiful designs I don't see in the pillars. Quote
SatinDucky Posted January 12, 2006 Author Posted January 12, 2006 Did you call the supplier and complain? This is the slab that my mom picked up for me from HL yesterday. I suppose I could return it, but I didn't look too close. They may all be like that. Quote
Michelle_InMi Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 I've bought wax from Hobby Lobby on three seperate occasions, and it always looks like that :undecided I'm not sure what fingernailing is, but I haven't liked the finished product of my candles when I work with it. I figured it was something I was doing, but maybe not eh? Quote
Juliette Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 I think that would be a pretty effect in a pillar. Sort of like cloudy chunks. JMO Quote
SatinDucky Posted January 12, 2006 Author Posted January 12, 2006 Fingernailing is the white marks inside the wax. They're much along the line of crop circle, nobody knows where they come from or why, though many have their own opinions. Here's a couple threads on them... http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12022&highlight=fingernailhttp://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4295&highlight=fingernail Quote
Pam W Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 How about making a plain candle(no color-no FO) with that & posting a pic. I'm curious if the presto treatment will eliminate the FN'g Quote
Trish Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 I see that a lot of my slabs of wax and don't get fingernailing in the finished product. Quote
MaryinCary Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 I see that a lot of my slabs of wax and don't get fingernailing in the finished product.Same here....they look like that from the supplier, but once the wax is melted and I put in my additives and pour...no problems! Quote
SatinDucky Posted January 13, 2006 Author Posted January 13, 2006 Interesting... I'll try one plain first, just too see what happens. Quote
Scented Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 I haven't seen them for a long time, but never got fingernailing out of anything that looked that before either. Quote
