Nella
Looking for an authentic smelling pretzel scent. I ordered and paid (with shipping) over 40.00 for a 16oz bottle of soft pretzel from save on scents. To say I am dissapointed is an understatement. There is hardly any scent at all, i was almost convinced they just sent me a bottle of water, but there is a very light floral note that i detect....nothing close to pretzel. This was the ultra concentrate too! Anyway, live and learn i guess. I wont be making the mistake of not ordering a sample size of a fragrance i havent tried. Does anyone know where I might find this oil? Thank you in advance:)
Candybee
Did you test it in wax? or just oob?
Nella
I put it in wax today. I used one full ounce to 8oz wax. Still, no scent. I will burn it in a couple of days but I'm not holding my breath. I have purchased hundreds of fragrance oils from all of the major distributors and I've honestly never had an oil that literally smelled like nothing. I've just been searching for this particular scent for so long that I just purchased it on impulse. Does anyone have suggestions on how I could make my own? Scented
In my hunt for something else yesterday I thought it was the candlemaker store that said it had every scent known ... wonder if it has that one? Man that bites to waste wax on FOs that do that. You really ought to complain to them. I wonder what kind of response would be forthcoming ... probably the typical ... "You are the first to ever complain about our scents. There is nothing wrong with our fragrances, perhaps there's a problem with your olefactory. We do not put coconut in our sandalwood." But that's what it was ... coconut with a splash of I'm guessing sandalwood.
Nella
No luck at the candlemakers store:( thanks for the help though.
Candybee
That sucks! I have had that happen with a bread type FO I bought once. It was Amish Friendship Bread from Fillmore Containers. Now they have some awesome FOs but this one you couldn't smell anything let along any bread notes whatsoever. If I see a pretzel fragrance I'll post it. Have you looked at Saveonscents? They have all sorts of scents and might have this one?
Scented
She got it from SOS
Candybee
Oh I forgot! They are the only place I can think of that would have something that different.
rctfavr3
I used to rave about SOS but lately their oils have really taken a dive in quality. For a pretzel smell, you're looking for a salty sourdough type aroma. For this you might try a custom blend. Something like 85% (Buttered Popcorn + Baked Bread) to 15% Valerian might work.Another option might be to go with a Beer FO and add Buttered Popcorn to that.
Nella
Thank you for the suggestion, i will try that. Never heard of valerian...will have to look that one up.
jfear
I'm a novelty candle maker so naturally I turn to Save on Scents for their "off the wall" FOs. But I've yet to find one from them that's great as a stand alone... The ones I order always have to be altered. I find so many of their fragrances to be on the weak side, regardless of their "Xtreme" status.I feel as though they're in a race to concoct as many off-beat FOs as possible without really investing in the product and its accuracy.Don't get me wrong; there are some great FOs from them but I find the quality lacking; also, so many of there FOs smell exactly the same. Don't be surprised if you order "Gym Socks" and it smells just like "Pretzel"!

SueH
I got a sample recently of Fresh Baked Bread from Bittercreek North that smells to me exactly like Pretzel. I made a candle out of it and it smells like Pretzel when burning. Smells really good!

Trappeur
Bittercreek does have nice oils....so maybe you could try that. But one thing I noticed in your post.... you put 1 oz oil for 8oz wax....ok, that is pretty much double the amount over the recommended general amount that most chandlers use. That could be a reason there is no throw (like I said, just a possibility). Wax can only hold so much. It could be clogging the wick. And then it could be a dud fragrance...who knows...? Since you have a whole pound, why not try making another candle and use 6% oil for a pound of wax? You've nothing to lose. That is just my suggestion. Sorry you spent so much on 1 pound of wax. Let us know. Trappeur
jfear
Haven't tried their Gymsock FO but I would hope it doesn't smell like their Pretzel fragrance. Yikes. How do you alter a fragrance oil? I was being a bit facetious, I adore SOS. Although a lot of their FOs are similar, they have just as many that are dead-ringers for accuracy. Like "Garlic", "Fresh Dirt" and "Band-Aid" is awesome! Gym socks is really gross, even for me! But I may find a use for it just yet! What I meant by altered is blending with other FOs for my own taste. I'm still new to all this lingo! Now who in the world would want a candle that smells like funky sweaty feet? ...omg... Trappeur I think Yank$$ had a "Man-candle" with this aroma. It was something like Sweaty socks, Dirty Laundry and all-around general "dorm-room" funk. Can't remember the name of the candle though. Nella
I should have clarified that I used this oil for tarts not candles. I did use a high percentage of oil hoping it would give a throw even though there is no scent out of bottle. Its been two months, still nothing. Thank you for the bittercreek suggestion I will give them a try:)
Nella
Since I'm going to order some samples from Bittercreek, does anyone else have some suggestions for some strong oils. I'm open to anything, but lean towards bakery. Thank you
