I am using candlewics 141mp blend in a aluminum mold, and I get these very small dimples on the surface of my candle. you have to be looking for imperfections to see them but its something that I would like to eliminate. I am bringing the wax to 200F and pouring at 175-185, and poking relief holes. Any sugestions.

What are you doing to the molds between pours?

What I would suggest is just to warm them gently on the inside with a heatgun (not so much that you can't hold them) and wipe them well with a very absorbent paper towel like Viva. This will leave them conditioned and you might get a better finish on the next pour.

I've found that cleaning them thoroughly between pours isn't the best idea. Also you don't need mold release more than once every several pours.

Your pouring temp is fine.

LOL, here this might be easier than typing a reply every time.

ROFL....

I get pinholes when I pour too hot. Did you heat your molds? that might be part of the problem if they were too hot.

I agree with every reply in this thread!! the dimples do sound like pin holes and they can be caused by many things and any combo of the things listed. Try different combos and see what eliminates the holes. First thing I would try is pouring a bit cooler say about 170 and not heating molds.

Top- ROTFLMFAO!!!

To the Duck- I think you should ask Top if he will let you use that pic for your avitar
