angied
Hi, Ok I am trying to make some soap for the mp soap swap, what I am trying to attemp is layers. I waited until almost hard but stick tacky and even sprayed it with alcohol. But when I cut it the top keeps coming off. I have tried it with a cpl different soaps and still no luck. Any other suggestions or do I just need to give it up? So those of you that read this that is in the swap...sorry:undecided .....but they do smell good and lather really well. I may just melt the one batch down and just go with that.Angied
MichelleOH
I'm not going to be much help here. This is what i did...I sprayed the top with alcohol and poured my 2nd layer when I could see that my 2nd layer soap wasn't steeming anymore. Did that makes sense?Angie my soap didn't turn out very pretty either. But like you said it smells good and lathers well:DI think we are all in it for some fun. angied
Well I made it in a loaf pan so it was almost completely set up( probably about 20 mins or so) ...just alittle tacky. Do you think maybe I should have pour sooner?Angied
prairieannie
Hey peeps, you will be so surprised at how early you can pour a second layer! As MP soap cools, I'm sure you have noticed that it forms a skin, and this happens pretty quickly. I'm gonna guess you just waited a bit too long angie..and if you pour a little sooner you'll be happier with your results!
MichelleOH
Well, maybe a seasoned M&P person will come along but I poured my second layer probably 2 hours after the inital layer. I don't know what the problem is:undecided
angied
prairieannie, I almost pm'd you....to me, you seem to be the mp soap queen:bow: , I kinda thought thats what it may be. I am going to try it again this weekend and not wait so long. Thanks to both of you for your help!!!!Angied
tlc26
When I am layering I don't wait as long as 20 minutes. I cut, then melt the first layer. Stick the log in the fridge while I pretty quickly cut and melt the second layer. When melting it I don't let it get really hot. I take it out of the microwave with a few small chunks not melted yet. Stir until they melt, add the FO, color, etc. Stir a bit more about 2 minutes of so, then pour. Adjust by a minute or so depending on the depth of your layers. I am refering to a 3 layer soap, so about 1 lb of mp in the taget mold. If you are using single cavity molds the time between layers is even less.
