Hey everyone! I'm new to the board, so I'm listing my get-to-know-me answers below 🙂

What's your name? Kristen

How old are you? 42

Where do you live? Upstate South Carolina

How long have you been making candles/soap/whatever? I just started making wax melts a couple of months ago. I started making melt and pour soap, whipped sugar scrubs w/cream soap base, & whipped shea butter (to name a few lol) around 10 or 11 years ago. I made my first batch of CP soap about a week and a half ago!

How did you get started making candles/soap/whatever? I bought a melt and pour soap kit years ago just because it looked like fun! I have made quite a bit and still do from time to time. I decided to make wax melts a couple of months ago so I could choose the scents I like and simply because I love to play with color in any form. And I just enjoy crafting! I am thinking about selling melts at some point because I love making them, and I can only use so many before I get buried in them! 😂

Are you married? Any kids? I'm married to the love of my life and one of my best friends! We'll celebrate our 18th anniversary this August. We have an amazing 13 year old daughter, who is our pride and joy. She's also our rainbow baby!

If candle/Soap making isn't your primary job, what do you do? I'm a cancer registrar, which is basically a cancer data specialist. I collect and report diagnosis, treatment, and outcomes of patients with cancer for the purpose of public health planning, statistics, and research. 😊

Anything else we should know: I really love soooo many crafts! I enjoy diamond painting, resin (both epoxy and UV resin), I love to crochet, I knit a little bit (not very well!), I sew a little, have done a little quilting (currently working on a 1 inch hexagon English paper pieced quilt with Tula Pink fabrics!), I make stickers and vinyl decals with my silhouette machines, and I love to do decorative planning!

Welcome Kristen!  You do A LOT of cool stuff!!!  I knit a bit too.  Or at least I used to in collage when it was all the rage and we would have knitting groups.  I only made socks.  I know, I know, everyone says that socks are difficult.  But when they are the only thing you do and you follow the same pattern....not so hard.

Glad you are here!  Lyschel

What's your name?  Kristi

How old are you?  55

Where do you live?  Northern Panhandle of Idaho

How long have you been making candles/soap/whatever?  Started making soap over 6 years ago, for personal use and gifts. Over those years I have dabbled in other items, such as lip balm, hand cream/balm, scrubs, bath bombs, etc.  I started making candles and wax melts this Spring (2022).  My husband was complaining over the amount I spend on candles and wax melts, and jokingly said I should make my own like I do soap.  So, I decided it was a great idea!

How did you get started making candles/soap/whatever?  I first became interested in making soap when my husband and I started to attempt to be more self-sufficient and decrease our carbon footprint. As my herb garden grew, I wanted to do something with all the extra herbs and flowers I was growing. Looked into making essential oils, and ended up watching videos of people making soap. I was hooked, I had to try, and have loved making soap ever since.

Are you married? Any kids?  I am married and we have 4 adult children and 5 grandchildren.

If candle/Soap making isn't your primary job, what do you do?  I am retired now, I was a professor of nursing at our local college prior to retiring.

Anything else we should know?  After retiring, my husband and I have increased our “hobbies” greatly.  We added a flock of chickens to our family and then came the bee hives, along with me having more time to experiment with other handmade items like candles.  When we realized we had more eggs and honey than we needed and I was filling shelves with soap and candles, we had to do something.  We thought we could offer our extra products to friends and neighbors, but how do we do that?  Finally this Summer we decided to start our own little local business to provide these products to our local community.  So, we are in the opening stages of getting off the ground. I look forward to getting to know you all and get lots of great ideas and a lot of sage advice.

What's your name?

Hey everyone, My name’s Joey.

How old are you?

Im 29

Where do you live?

Im from the Jersey Shore

How long have you been making candles/soap/whatever?

Ive been attempting to make candles for about three years now.

How did you get started making candles/soap/whatever?

I’ve always had a tendency to maintain a side hustle.  Different concepts have come and gone over time. A lot of home decor crafts/woodworking have been working for me, but the practicality of producing such things has lost some of its appeal for me, as far as being profitable that is. I’m a big time fishermen, and so, I’ve collected many shells over the years, and my sea glass collection is pretty serious. I’ve enjoyed, and still do enjoy, incorporating my finds from the beach into art and craft ideas, But I needed another lane, and candles it was, It’s a lane with many potholes 😂😂

Are you married? Any kids?

I am not married and have no children.

If candle/Soap making isn't your primary job, what do you do?

As much as I would like it to be, candle making is not my main source of income. I run operations for a flooring company out here in New Jersey. Grateful for my position, But it’s not as expressive as I would like.

Anything else we should know?

Think I covered most of the basics. If I’m being honest, I’ve been slacking on my candle goals. Originally I started with GB464, I gained some experience and traction with that. Learned a few things and eventually had friends and family raving about my candles. I too was even slightly impressed with them at one point. Jars being out of stock and a multitude of testing led me off the path and basically back to square one. Life and trying to enjoy it has gotten in the way, But the dream is still alive. I’ve maintained my LLC, Business Bank Accounts, Etc. I know, I should have waited. But I like to keep things legitimate, That’s just how I am. Spoken about business insurance with some professionals but holding off on that until I’m confident enough to market my product. The last few months I’ve switched gears and been working with IGI 6006, I have to say, I think I’m onto something. I’ve been floating around on this forum for a few months in the shadows, Picking around the threads and learning what I can, Figured I would participate moving forward. I know what I need to do, Testing and more testing. I’m not looking for a free handout like most of the newbie threads on here (They really piss me off, Reddit as well) Just wanted to be active and say what’s up. I have a small army behind me ready to market my product when I give the command. Until then, I have some work to do. Have a great day people.
