lindsaycb Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Does anyone have any words of wisdom of doing a show like this? Its def. not a craft/art show, but I bet there'd be some sales to come from it. Women with their husbands wanting candles for their new bathroom, etc..etc.. Quote
Crying Moon Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Last week I saw an ad for our County Home & Garden show for vendor booth rental. Just under $600 smackaroos! I've been to those before and there are alot of siding & construction co., mixed in with a handfull of landscapers & window salespeople. I just don't see candles selling at a show like that. If I'm wrong...I'll be damned! Quote
StacysScentsations(DH) Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 You would probably do good because a home and garden show is no construction. So you will have the "wives" with the hubbies. If you go fins omeone with a nice display such as a fireplace co pr hpt tub co and give them some free candles to burn with your literature and take some of theres to put in your booth. they may not buy the hottub but you can bet if it smells good when their talking to the sales guy they are coming to buy the candle. Kimb Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 I do a Home and Garden show in Des Moines, IA, but it's done a bit differently. They have the main show in one area of the building that is the regular home and garden show and in a separate room they have a room called the All Iowa Store that is run by people from Iowa State University. They take 20% commission with no booth fee. It's basically a juried show that food, candles, bath and body, and other crafts. Everything has to be made in Iowa or have some sort of ties to Iowa. I do this one every year, because I do well and if the weather turns out bad then I am only out the time it took be to bring things in and take them home. My worst year I made only around $200 after their portion was taken out.HTH,Kim Quote
