ScentsandMore Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 First time using aluminum molds. I know you need to coat them with something. Is this for any type of wax? I will be using 4045H mottling wax. Will certain types of sprays keep it from mottling? I thought I would use cooking spray. Thanks. Quote
Kaybee23 Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Regular cooking spray works well, does not affect the mottle. Quote
Trish Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 I've never coated my aluminum molds. Some scents are a bit harder to get out, but a few minutes in the fridge does the trick... Quote
Scented Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 I've just zapped mine once with a silicone spray. Quote
geekrunner Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 I've noticed with the mottled pillars I've made that they are just slimy enough they don't need any mold release.Unless I'm not doing them right. Even the least slimy mottle I've had came out pretty easily without any mold release.HTH! geek Quote
SatinDucky Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 I always coat mine before the first use. No so much for actual coating, because I wipe it all out. I just use the cooking spray or mineral oil for cleaning it. It's amazing how much metal dust can come out of a new mold. Quote
Candle Man Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 Did you know that cooking sprays are bad for candle use. Some contain alcohol and or water. Not good to mix with wax.I find mineral oil to be cheeper and work great also silicone spray for candles works, just cost more. Quote
eugenia Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 I don't coat mine with anything either. Especially with a mottle, it should slide right out. I do recommend that you wipe it out well before first use, in case there is any dust in there.e Quote
