Hello everyone. I'm new to candle making and want to use only the most premium fragrance oils. First of all, does anyone have recommendations for a *premium quality* fragrance oil supplier? I can see from comments that there are some low quality suppliers. Second, do any of the top quality suppliers sell single-note, non-blended fragrance oils? For example, musk or gardenia or rose that is only musk or gardenia or rose and not a blend of several fragrance oils. I would like to blend my own unique scents using single notes and am seeking the purest version of each scent. Looking for answers from longtime candle and soap makers. Thank you kindly.

Help! Opinions?Have you tried these JS scents?
CyanideNoodles posted a topic in Fragrance Discussion
I am looking for real strong scents and already have some favorites from natures garden or flaming candle but I have never ordered from JS and they have a lot of unique things I would like to try. I was hoping someone could chime in and see if they've tried these scents before as I already googled a lot. I use parasoy candles and use max load possible. Here are the fragrances I wanted to try: VANILLA SNOWFLAKE BUTTERCREAM CRUNCH BUTTERSCOTCH BRULEE PEPPERMINT BARK MARSHMALLOW PEPPERMINT CHRISTMAS WISH CHRISTMAS BLIZZARD COTTON CANDY SUPER STRONG BAHAMA MAMA COCONUT CRAZY COTTON CANDY FROSTED CAKE COTTON CANDY FROSTING FAIRY DUST I'm pretty nervous ordering fragrances as I find coconuts and cake ones always smell like play dough. I had the candy cane vanilla FO from natures garden and no matter what type of wax I used it always smells like a a weird burnt smell when lit so I really want a good mint scent. Hoping someone can take the time to help me if they have used any of these! -
You guys have been so helpful with helping me rename this oils! I hope I do t get annoying with all the ones I need help with! I’m having a hard time renaming Victoria’s Secret “Bombsell”. Any ideas would be much appreciated! Smell details- Fresh citrus adds sparkle to blooming bouquet of white flowers. Red berry, leafy green tones and cashmere woods lead to the base of creamed musk and golden amber.

Hello, I'm looking for good blackberry or blackberry pie fragrance oils. Or even perhaps a blend suggestion? I see that TCS (The Candlemakers Store) and (JS) Just Scent have a Blackberry Pie FO. I've never ordered from TCS before, I have ordered from JS though. The first time from JS was a huge miss for me, lol, but I have since ordered a lot of good ones from there. I just got Blackberry Brulee from CandleWic and it smells really good OOB but maybe a little too sweet and without the pie crust note. I also see that TCS has a Blackberry Cobbler that I think may pass as a "pie" scent. Has anyone tried any of these? Or have any other suggestions? Also, who has a good straight Blackberry scent that I can perhaps blend to make a pie scent? TIA

Hello! I've recently started making candles and I'm using rapeseed wax blend (with beeswax and steric acid). Whilst I've had some great scent throws with some of my essential oils, I have noticed that my citrus essential oils have a smokey/ burning scent when the candle is lit. The cold throw is great, it's a shame it doesn't come through at all when they're lit. Does anyone have any idea why this might be the case? I'm currently adding in 10% oil to wax ratio and have been very careful to make sure I'm adding in the essential oil when the wax is at 54 degrees celsius. Many thanks!

Hi guys!! What are some of your strongest scents for your aromabead freshies and where do you get them? I’m looking for some strong valentines and spring scents. One of my fall faves and strongest scents was the pumpkin scents from Lonestar!

Does anyone have any opinions of Wellington Fragrance Oils? I am new to candlemaking and purchased several fragrances from Wellington and have been mixing them in GW 415 and 464 and have struggled with hot throw mainly. Does anyone have any experience with Wellington fragrances? Trying to figure out if I should be buying fragrances from somewhere else. Thanks!

Can anyone review these? Looking for strong scent throws that smell great in general. I use max fragrance oil in my joy wax (parasoy) candles. I am looking for something for my mermaid candles and never really have any luck with tropical scents. Especially coconut... here are some fragrances I am looking at. http://www.justscent.com/twisted-mermaid-fragrance-oil.html http://www.justscent.com/candle-and-soap-supplies-pink-sands-type-fragrance-oil.html http://www.justscent.com/sea-salt-and-ocean-breezes-fragrance-oil.html http://www.justscent.com/candlemaking-soap-supplies-butt-naked-fragrance-oil.html http://www.theflamingcandle.com/candle-fragrance-oil/fragrance-oil-a-z/egyptian-amber-fragrance-oil/ http://www.theflamingcandle.com/candle-fragrance-oil/fragrance-oil-a-z/summer-scoop-type-fragrance-oil/ http://www.justscent.com/candlemaking-soap-supplies-summer-boardwalk-fragrance-oil-type.html

New hear and new to making bath and body just for fun for my kids. I am having a hard time trying to find a GOOD STRONG Marshmallow scent (not Toasted Marshmallow). My kids don't like the Toasted Marshmallow scent I purchased from NG and neither did I. Toasted Marshmallow seems to be the only one I keep seeing out there from other suppliers. Any suggestions would be appreciated :-)

Hi There! I need advice on the pricing aspect of creating a custom candle scent for a business. What do you charge for your time? A flat fee? What minimuns do you require? I had planned on them paying for the roll of labels including all shipping and designing charges as well as any costs to purchase samples. Any advice from anyone that has ever done any custom work? Thank you for the help!

I use beeswax for my candles and I want to have the best scent possible. I always use about 1 oil to get a strong scent in my candles. What are your opinions on JUST SCENT? They have a lot of scents other sites like natures garden, flaming candle, and CS don't. I really am interested in them but I've seen some different opinions. I am trying to make it so my candles smell as strong as say a bath and body works candles so fragrance oils need to be strong and smell really good. I already use vybar in my candles too. Thanks in advance.

Curious how many hours you all are getting out of a wax melt cube from a standard clamshell or from a tart for those you who use the fluted tart molds? I'm only using a soy pillar blend at the moment, but have a shipment on the way so that I can experiment with different blends hoping to achieve a stronger, lasting melt. * So - what is your lifeline on your scents before they die? =) Please & Thanks in Advance!

I am currently using natures garden pillar of bliss wax. I am trying to get rid of a ton of fragrance oils i had purchased from wholesales supplies plus and wanting to use them for wax melts. Was wondering what results any of you had using crafter's choice fo in parasoy or soy wax was.

Hi, Has anyone here run across a FO that smells just like Jello? Any of the classic Jello flavors like lime, orange or cherry are OK, I just need one flavor scent for a project. Thanks to all!

I just purchased Eucalyptus Spearmint from EBB and was wondering if any of you like this scent. I have never even smelled Eucalyptus with spearmint before (i dont think). I got a request for a eucalyptus scent and CS didnt have any and I was buying the Honey Patch from EBB anyway so I got an OZ of this. does it have a strong eucalyptus scent to it? or is it more spearmint or even split. if you sell it is it a big hit?

I'm so frustrated. I keep making soaps and the scent fades or disappears. Today I used WSP Black Raspberry Vanilla. Its supposed to be a good sticker. I used 1 oz ppo. I soaped at 100 degrees or so. CPOP. I have zero scent in my soap. Its not even faint. Does anyone have any advice for me?

Hi, I've had a devil of a time trying to find patchouli fragrance oil (for use with soy wax) that smells like I remember from the 60s & 70s. All the ones I've tried lack that extremely earthy scent. They smell simply like nag champa with a floral scent added. So frustrating! Has anyone else found a patchouli that they like? Thank you so much for any info

Hi All! I'm new to the forum! I'm making hot process soap and also melt and pour soap. Recently, I've been getting feedback from people that the scent they describe smelling in the soap, is almost nothing like the scent I'm smelling. I'm using straight OOB fragrance oils, no mixing. I smell, for instance Black Amber Musk, and 3 different people are saying the soap smells like "dirt." Not as an insult, but as in that fresh gardening soil smell. When I smell it, I smell a fainter version of the OOB scent and it's nothing like a fresh dirt smell. How do people reconcile and work with differences in perception of scent? Any suggestions?

I've made 3 batches of scented soap. All three batches I used 2 oz of FO. Each batch is a different FO. All three batches had 50-55 oz of oils in the recipe. Two of the batches the scent has faded so much I can't really smell it anymore. The soaps are all 2-6 weeks old. Should I be using more FO? I read where people talk about "anchoring" a scent but I'm not really sure what that means or how to do it? Maybe I just am bad at picking FO. I do read the review before I buy to see if people think the scent will hold up in CP soaps.

I made some lotion this weekend with a recipe that I found on these boards. The recipe got rave reviews from everybody and I agree it is awesome. The only problem is my scent is already fading. The recipe was 15.6 oz water 1.5 oz Steric 1.5 oz E-wax 7.5 oz Olive Oil 3 oz Avocado butter ( I used Shea) .3 oz FO .3 Liquid Par Optima (I used Germaben II) .15 oz Vit E .15 Dry Flo (I used Tapioca Starch) The recipe did not have directions so I read about how to make lotion on another site. I heated the water to 167 and held for 20 minutes. heated the oil, e-wax and steric, added the shea butter letting it melt, slowly added the water while using stick blender then finally the fragrance at the end after I emulsified everything. Did I do something wrong? Should I have added the fragrance while adding the water and emulsified it all together? Is it my scent? I used a scent that got really good reviews for all types of things lotions, CP Soap.

Ok, So I have been testing several new candles and I have been discouraged at the scent throw that I am getting. Although I am tesing another candle that in past burns has been light in HT but now after originally pouring a month and half ago it starting to finally have a decent HT in my living room(which is my biggest room I have to test in). Ok so my recent candles have had a light to medium HT but it takes almost two hours to get to a medium scent throw. This can't be acceptable to a customer. I don't know why I'm even posting this because I know the answer but please post your opinion anyway. Also the HT could get better as The candle cure even more but is a customer willing to wait that long. I just don't know. It's sad to because most of these FO are from Peak and I have had very good luck with them in the past. All of my candles I wait a week before testing and usually have good results but I'm just having a bit of bad luck lately. :-(

Is there a true butter scent out there? *I've tried aztec's Buttered Buscuits and it smells like feet after burning awhile. Any other recommendations? Thanks!
