Is it safe to blend fragrance oils for cosmetic/skin products? I’m afraid that having too many fragrance compounds in a product could make my products (lotion and body butter) a bit more irritating.

Hello, I'm looking for good blackberry or blackberry pie fragrance oils. Or even perhaps a blend suggestion? I see that TCS (The Candlemakers Store) and (JS) Just Scent have a Blackberry Pie FO. I've never ordered from TCS before, I have ordered from JS though. The first time from JS was a huge miss for me, lol, but I have since ordered a lot of good ones from there. I just got Blackberry Brulee from CandleWic and it smells really good OOB but maybe a little too sweet and without the pie crust note. I also see that TCS has a Blackberry Cobbler that I think may pass as a "pie" scent. Has anyone tried any of these? Or have any other suggestions? Also, who has a good straight Blackberry scent that I can perhaps blend to make a pie scent? TIA

I've tried to find the answer to my question but was unable to. My question is this; what is the best parasoy for container candles? I want the best HT/CT possible in a parasoy. Im trying to research a few but can't find any good information. Thanks in advance!

I bought some 6006 and 4625 wax for tarts. I wanted to test them to see how they would do, right out of the bag I could tell I wouldn't be happy with the results, but I melted a little of each, and poured them. After sitting for 24 hours I tested them out, I was right The 6006 with less then 1% FO had a good hot and cold throw, but its so soft. feels like butter plus I hate the oily texture it has. However the 4625 was like a brick, and barely had a cold throw, with no hot throw (that could be fixed by increasing the FO maybe). So I wonder if I could mix the 2 for a better result, or mix the 4625 with something else. Not sure if that would be a waste of time, or money. I was going to get the soy tart wax, but I don't really like the feeling of soy tarts.

I have a few questions about blending IGI 6006 with premium paraffin. #1. Would it be beneficial to blend IGI 6006 with more paraffin for a better scent throw? #2. Would a blend of IGI 6006 and paraffin be better for tarts or just the 6006 by itself? #3. Would I have an easier time finding a wick that works by blending the IGI 6006 with more paraffin? I also have about 2-3lbs of GW 464. I've tried blending the 6006 with the 464 and the wicks I've tried have tested better than the 6006 by itself. I want to get the best CT/HT with my tarts. Hello, I just made my first batch ever and am waiting for them to cure for a few days. I don't want to make 10 wrong turns and waste a bunch of money before I find the right path. I'm starting out with GW 464 because that sounded like a trusted one. (starting out with 4oz mini jars until I find the main scents I like, then will mainly use 16oz) I got my FO from candle science for little over $1/oz While they are curing I started doing more research and I'm curious if I should skip from soy to a blend IGI 6006 (I'm looking to get maximum hot throw) Thoughts? Also I'm curious if anyone can comment on a quality comparison of FO between candle science and bulk apothecary. CS seems pretty cheap but I just realized that BA is a 10 minute drive from me and would be really convenient to shop in store for new stuff. Bulk apothecary is about double the price per ounce but they also claim that "Our fragrance oil can be used at .3%" due to no dilution. My thought is that anyone can use .3% but will you really get a great hot throw? This batch that is curing, I used 10% FO (but I haven't tested yet) Anybody got any thoughts on this? Thanks!

I'm using IGI 6006 and have tried multiple wicks with no success yet. Im wondering if I'd have an easier time if I add another brand of soy like 464 or what. I love the blends. Any other suggestions for a blend wax? thanks in advance!

Hi all! I probably haven't met most of you before because I've been posting in the General Candle section. I've been working with paraffin, and playing with blends, for 18 months and I've decided it's time to take the plunge over to straight Soy. I have 3 main reasons for this 1 - I use tall jars, and this causes a lot of sooting by the time the candle gets to the end. I'm hoping with Soy I will reduce or eliminate this 2 - With paraffin I find that the wax gets a little dirty looking over time (from the carbon), and discolors, giving a cheaper look to the end product 3 - I find using a wick big enough to get a decent melt pool, in paraffin, results in more mushrooming than it does for an equivalent melt pool in soy. I realize this could come at a cost to the hot throw. Though I read here that this isn't necessarily the case. The reason for my post is I'm struggling to determine the right soy wax to start with and I really need some help because my head is in a spin going through this whole process again after 18 months! The main things for me to consider are (and was hoping people could comment on each); 1 - Hot throw is by far the most important aspect of the product for me 2 - Cold throw is a close second 3 - I do not want glass adhesion. I'm happy that it does not stick at all, but not at the cost of the hot/cold throw 4 - I don't want frosting. All clients we've spoken to don't like soy candles because of frosting, and for that reason alone they do not buy soy. 5 - I would like to use CDN or premier wicks if possible as I have thousands of them 6 - I'm not adverse to adding %20 paraffin if it means eliminating frosting or other issues, though would be good to avoid if possible 7 - I have no access to USA where I am, so addition of that is not possible. I can get other basic vegetable oils. 8 - I start with %6 FO normally. Should we start with %6 or do you typically need more with soy I know there is a lot of questions there. It's a scary change since we've spent 18 months developing a product with paraffin I read all the time that people give up on soy and move to paraffin, so this scares me, a lot. I don't have much time to perfect this as we've got to have product out by the end of June (7 weeks) and we'd like it to be the new soy based product. I'm hoping our knowledge is transferable from paraffin to soy(?) 8-) Sry for the brain fluff! had to get it all out 8-) -
Hi All Im a big fan of 4627, but understand some people blend with other paraffin waxes. Just wondering why people blend, and what are the benefits. I've heard some people blend with 4630 or another similiar harder wax, for example. Does this do something for the burn characteristics; to reduce soot; mushrooming fragrance throw. Or is it simply for asthetics? I'm testing with htp, eco, cdn and permier; and have issues with all of them in one way or another, and wondering if I should, for example, start using 4627 with 4630 to reduce the oil content and therefore hopefully reduce mushrooming and sooting?

Just wondering if anyone has blended paraffin and palm before, to make a container blend. And if so are there any gotchas I should know about before I travel down that road 8-)

I have seen in the "Soy and Soy Blend Recommendations" topic thread that some soy wax users add beeswax to help prevent frosting. I was wondering if this only helps with the initial frosting after pouring or if it helps with the frosting after burning. I have only work in paraffin, but purchased some soy candles from etsy to try out. With these candles, they looked good when I received them and had great scent throw, but after the first burning, they frosted. From what I read, it seems a paraffin and soy blend would prevent this, but I was wondering about the soy and beeswax blend. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. -
Who sells this serendipity FO that all the wax lovers are going nuts over. I've heard about it for awhile now but just haven't cared about looking anything about it up until now. Do any of you make this scent or do blends with it? Thanks!

Im not sure about the name but it's the best I could think of and I think it would fit. Anyway, this a a blend I wanted to share. I've gotten so many great ones from others on here in the past and I wanted to share one of mine. Also it's coming up on fall season so if any use this let me know. I'm doing this in clamshells, not a candle. Enjoy!! I'm not sure of %'s because I just dumped 1 ounces in that were 3/4 empty. Blend of: Bonfire bliss, autumn harvest, cider snap, pickin' pumpkins, & clove Some Mac apple might be a nice variation too! It has a hint of smokiness but the sweet and spiciness too!

I have two FO from CS that don't do well for me and sadly I have about 12oz of each. I thought about selling them but want to try and blend with 1or 2 other scents to create a new scent. The first is Meadow- a floral and grass scent. The second is Basil & Herb- just like the name says. I have been adding Mint to this and renamed it. Thinking of leaving the mint out and using the given name. Maybe that would help. Thanks for any advice or direction to take on these. Especially with the Meadow! ;-)
