  1. Hi there, I made some soap for my mom and wanted to wrap it in some pretty fabric (like a present). How do I secure the ends without using tape? Thanks for you suggestions! Peg
  2. I used WSP and added TD. It still discolored to a med tan but boy did it smell good!
  3. The jar is a 16 oz wide mouth pint canning jar. I tried the Large Zinc wick 8 inches long (trimmed to 1/4 ") and the flame was too big and it mushroomed too much. I tried the med zinc and the melt pool did not reach the side of the jar. I am using J223. What type of wick should I try next? Thank you for your suggestions! Peg.
  4. I was hoping to give it as gifts. That is a good idea Robin. Thanks!!
  5. I soaped with Ginger Spice and my soap turned a deep dark brown. The problem is that it stains my wash cloths. It is a really good soap and I hate to waste it but I cannot have it staining my wash cloths! Is there anything I can do? THANKS SO MUCH!!!! Peg.
  6. The cozy-up candle warmers at Michaels are on sale right now for 3.33@. I know they are not the combo, but they do a deceint job and are very cheap. I just bought 6 today to put in my friends X-Mas baskets.
  7. I was at a local farm where they sell the local crafters wares. The candles were stunning. The colors were deep, dark, rich and almost looked 'wet' (and these were container candles). How do they get those colors?
  8. I found some at the candle supply store. It says to add 1T/pp to eliminate 'wet spots'. I read a lot of people have wet spots with J223. I bought some to test. It is very sticky and soft (think elmers glue stick). I used it and have no wet spots on cold containers. Wondering what anyone else found while using it. Thanks Peg
  9. Wow. And are you a bengals fan? The second one looks like the bengals stripes!
  10. OK, I finally poured my first candles (after a year of reading about them). I am currently testing a few container waxes. The first I tried is At Wix End 50/50 blend. Nice easy melt, one pour, nice scent throw but it is expensive at 15.99 per slab or $64 case. The next was J223. Very soft. Two pour job(very deep 'sink hole'). I then added 3% beeswax, 1/4 t vygar (sp?) and a wax adhesive (to eliminate the 'wet spots'). I had to wick up because of the beeswax. Still has 'sink hole'. So far, the 50/50 blend has a better cold throw. I have not lit the J223 yet to test the hot throw because I just poured it tonight. I have just a few basic questions: 1- How soon can I put the lid on the candle (do I have to let it 'cure' for a few days first)? 2- The first candles (50/50 blend) I melted to 175, cooled to 150, added scent and color, then poured. The next was J223 I melted to 175, couldn't find my wick clips so I ended up pouring at 110, this is the batch that had the deepest sink holes. Does it have to do with what temperature I poured or the wax? 3- Why must I raise the temp to 175 when my wax is liquid at 140? 4- How long after the pour do I wait before I can light the candle (to test the wick)? I am having a lot of fun making these candles (they are just for me). I have not made a bar of soap since I bought this wax!! Thank you for directing me in my quest to make a safe, wonderfully scented, beautiful container candle! Peg
  11. I am looking for a marshmallow FO to use in CP soap and lotions. Anyone know of any really good smelling ones???? I just hate ordering a sample of a FO, pay for shipping and end up not liking it. Any suggestions? TIA Peg.
  12. I bought a gel candle that was in a 'fish' bowl. There is sand in the bottom and some halloween type figurines stuck in the sand for decoration. The gel was clear and colorless last year. It was burned for only a short time then put away for the season a few days later. When I got it out again, the gel looks very cloudy and dirty through out the entire bowl. Why and can it be 'fixed'? TIA!!!!!!!
